great pics billy.
just wanted to ask some ?'s about maintaining some temps in the winter. i keep my larger monitors and tegus in my garage so it is sheltered but still will get very cold in the winter. i have 250 watt bulbs running 24/7 to keep temps up, and it does a great job at it. but it just takes up so much energy. was just wondering how you keep yours warm?
thanks

i keep all my reptiles in a 25x20 foot garage.. about 9 feet high with cages starting 2 feet off the floor.....the garage is totally for reptiles.. i heat the garage with a gas (propane heater)our power goes out often up here so i have a heating system that stays on when we have no electricity...i will be improving my heat and humidity as time goes on...so...for now i spray the floors and use a humidifier...the heat in the winter is about 65 to 70 on the bottom of the cages to about 90 at the top...in areas there are basking sites with temps fom 100 to 115...(not hot enough but it works for now)... this year i plan lots of improvments..good luck...billy

Hi Rope,
Good looking V. salvadorii - always nice to see a healthy one enjoying its meal. Average humidity in PNG is ~90%, but more in the wet/monsoon season.

A friend of mine had humidity problems with his V. rudicollis, so he hooked up his sink pipes to tubes with spray nozzles and timers on them to spray 3-4 times/day in his caging...he merely hooked the aquarium tubing up along and around door ways and along wall/carpets to hide it...easy to do, not expensive as one would think and easily attainable at Home Depot or other good hardware/supply stores in your area...
thanx for sharing Rope,
mbayless
