help! strange bowls and behavior

hjk Mar 05, 2004 08:06 PM

Earlier today I noticed Dexter (3 month old beardie) wouldnt eat any crix, i also noticed his stomach seemed kind of fat/bloated like. This evening while I was out he defacted. I went to clean it up and it was alittle runny/wet. It also smelled pretty bad. I have never had a beardie do this. He did eat one mealworm this evening, but then wouldnt touch anymore. I put some crix in with him and he didnt seem too interested in them. I have no idea whats wrong. Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks.

Sounds like Coccidia to me. Get him to a vet and have a fecal test done.

it might have just been his diet..... but do get a fecal if he has another one like that

their digestive systems are not ready to be able to break down the chitin in them and meal worms are harder on them than supers. SO the worms sit in them and decay casuing bacteria and runny poos.

Try to find some acidolphiliz in the future and if your beardie is ever bloated, give them a few drops and it relieves the bloating usually within an hour

That the shells are too hard and they cant digest them or pass the shells properly. Why do mine eat both hissers and superworms among other things yet digest them and crap them right out with absolutely no problem?
Proper basking temps, proper temp gradient, and lack of dehydration. Yet according to some "experts" my beardies shouldnt have layed eggs especially less than 3 weeks from introduction or for that matter survive 3 weeks, hmmmm.. I guess its not possible, oh well...Heres a pic of an illusion in that case..

Bottom by the way. Shes only 2 years old in that pic, and for a female, by far almost a size record, theres only one other (her species)in history her size, or close even.

health and longevity.... stop twisting what others day to suit you.

SO where are those HUGH clutches she was suppose to produce the best the first year when breeding early? Also, you might want to check out size and apperance of other breeders photos of egg, before claiming how healthy and large these are

I know you have never seen BD eggs before, so I will not fault you for not knowing better.
