12 foot burm

scales Mar 05, 2004 08:32 PM

I was just wondering, how much does a 12 foot female burm usually sell for? My friend and employer has one, and his wife is saying it has to go... It's been handled by children most its life, and has been used in educational programs. The best thing for her would be to go to someone who would continue to use her for education... NOT BREEDING. He never would have gotten her, but she was abandoned at 3 ft in a dorm- for an entire summer she went unnoticed, and finally was brought to him, emmaciated and half dead. He couldn't stand to let it die, so nursed it back to health. But now... If anyone has any ideas, my email is turtlegurl1922@yahoo.com.

A good price would be between 200 and 300 dollars, but you can probably hold out for more if you are overly concerned with her going to a good home/good care.

I would say it would depend on what you are willing to spend as well as the area you live in. I personally wouldn't pay for a large burm when I personally know there are plenty of them in rescues that are either free or available for a $35-$50 donation to the organization. My 13' female didn't cost me anything other than materials to build her a new and stronger cage before I moved her in. My best friend originally got her two years ago when she was 11' long. My other half and I drove to North Carolina with my friend back then to pick the snake and her cage up - both for free...the only cost was gasoline to go get her. I've seen the large burms (10 feet plus) for sale in local papers for anywhere from $100-$400, with and without cages. I guess it basically comes down to what you're willing to pay.
