I have anoles, and know that they need UV to synthesize their D3, is it not the same for leopard geckos? I keep reading that they do not UV lighting because they are noctural, but wouldn't they need it for synthesis?

Leopard geckos are nocturnal, so they come out at night, and hide during the day. So, if the UV light is turned on during the day, they won't get any of the UV benefits(same in the wild, so they have adapted to not need it). For heating I would strongly reccommend a UTH(under tank heater), or, if your poor like me...LoL, J/K...You can use human heating pads. I use these and they are regulated fine, but you have to keep a close eye on the temps for about a week or so, then just take temps once a day. TIP: Check the label to see if it has auto shut off...I got one like this once, good thing I noticed it before the leo came!!!

Thanks a bunch
I've been wondering about that UV thing forever! I have a UTH for my anole terrarium and it works great so I definitely plan on picking up another one. Thanks
