That's probably carbon deposits from on the exhaust pipes and header on that GM.

Hey, she might be gravid, but I have a GMs n they run pretty good, except during the dry season. The way you can tell a female is gravid is just by her being fat. Shes just fat, and if you have a male you will be able to tell the differance pretty easy.
