Pacman not eating crickets.

Goblin-Gecko14 Mar 06, 2004 11:53 AM

My pacman doesnt eat crickets any more but relishes mealies. What can I do to entice him to eat crickets because I'm worried about too much mealie chitin being ingested. He's two months under my care, 2 inches, and a rusty brown color. I know T-REx makes aflavor enhancer can I entice him to eat crickets without buying the actual enhancer to save money.

You could try nightcrawlers. I use those as a staple. My horned frog really is not interested in crickets, but will take a very large one on rare occasions.

packmans should almost always strike at a woundering cricket by his face, and it is unusal that your does not, but i have some advice that you can try, without the use of a flavor enhancer. When you buy a dozen or so crickets it is important that you do not feed your packman/s the full dozen because it is just to much, but in this case instead of trowing just 3-4 large crickets in your tank take the time to dust them with what ever you have as a vitemin d-3 substance, i use the minor-all indoor type, and once you have dusted them trow about 6-8 in the tank and in a way with your fingers push the crickets towards your packman so that they are with in striking distance for the packman. Now we are trying to introduce him to a new diet so please try and do this cricket trick for a week or so, and do not take the crickets out of your cage when you put them in there. do it for a week and if you don't see him eating the crickets from when you pushed them torwards him, then just let them sit in there he will adventually think that this guy isn't giving me my pinkies anymore so im stuck with these crickets and he will adventuallt take to them and you should start to knotice your crickets dissapearing in the mean time. i believe that you have spoiled your packman to the extent that he thinks that he can only live of pinkies etc. so now its time to show him other foods, just try it for a week brfore feeding him a mouse. and also make sure you feed him crickets about 5 days after you feed him the pinkie because he may still be digesting the pinkie, and just doesn't have the hunger to strike a large woundering cricket! -GOOD LUCK

I have never ever fed my frog a pinky but I have fed him mealies, and waxworms and he likes them but they're not as nutritious as crickets but yesterday I tried to feed him and he gobbled down three large crickets.
