mouth issue?

dragonbreeder Mar 06, 2004 12:12 PM

I have just noticed that one of my adult Black Roughnecks was not flicking his tongue as much as usual in his enclosure, and when investigating further this morning, saw that he had some clear drool hanging off of the tip of his snout.

I then realized that I did notice lately sand has been sticking to his snout more than ususal the last few days...

When I took him out, he started to smell his surroundings with his tongue in a more ususal fashion, and I saw what appeared to be something on his tongue, like maybe thick saliva. After a while, it was gone.

I know that he is not dehydrated, as he soaks daily.

Does anyone think that this might be the beginning of a mouth infection?

Any other ideas . . ?

I was able to get him to open his mouth for me and get a good look inside. All looks clean, no odd areas. His saliva is thick, though.

I hope that this is not a reperatory infection or the like...

Has anyone else seen this before?
