Sexing your geckos...

pspguy Mar 06, 2004 03:05 PM

Okay, I thought I pretty much had this down pat, but now I'm starting to wonder. How old does the male need to be to be visually sexable? I ask because I recently got a male patternless that is about 13 months old and you can tell he's a male. He has quite the package and its not difficult to tell him apart from the females. However, I have another male that I purchased at the reptile show in Raleigh last September from K&N Reptiles. By my best guess he's probably 9-10 months old, but he doesn't look like the other male. So when should he really start to show?

You can tell after 3 months, 5 months tops. Are you just looking for hemipenal bulges or the femoral pores, too? That old of a leo will have both, if it's a male!
