Lady bugs and Boxelders bugs.

Asmodea Mar 06, 2004 05:23 PM

Just moved into a new place recently. As it's only just now starting to break out of winter, I'm finding a few lady bugs and boxelder bugs around indoors. This somewhat worries me, given how big the swarms of these can get when the weather really warms up.

If an Iguana, Bearded Dragon, or Fire Skink were to eat any of these lady bugs or boxelders, would it be at all toxic to them? Anything to worry about on that front?

Ladybugs are at least mildly toxic, but from what I've heard they taste so bad that an animal isn't likely to eat them twice. They also ooze blood as a defense.

Hi,

I'm new, but I have had experience with the lady
bug scene. In my experience, you're right; the animal
won't eat them twice. They must taste really bad. =)
I would also avoid any of the "true Bugs". They also seem to have a sort of bad taste to them. Thought I'd chime in.
Sorry.

Yours,
Phil Clevinger
