What kind of thermostat can I get for controling feeder heat tape?

jrbl Mar 06, 2004 05:43 PM

Hi, I want to set up a few tanks with feeders(silk worms, roaches, superworms) and I want to put heat tape under the tanks to keep it warm for breeding. I need a thermostat but I don't want to have to buy a ranco or anything just to control a couple bug tanks. Is there any thermostat that are under $40 I can get somewhere? I have seen like $30 thermostats on different sites, but found out they only show the temp, not control it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Josh

Alife thermostats are around $35-40 or so. They are easy to use, but do not display the temp digitally. The dial has temp graduations that are pretty darn good. You can find these at the Bean Farm, LLL, Big Apple, Creative Pet Supply, etc.

I suggest the Big apple herp BAH 1000. It is a very good thermostat for under 40.00( around 38 shipped to my location) and you can a cheap digital thermometer to monitor the temperatures along with the thermostat..
