New Female Ball Pyhton

Twest Mar 06, 2004 09:20 PM

This is a female ball that I got in a group deal. She is about 32 in. long and just over 1000 grams... As you can see from the picture she is VERY skinny. She has RI also... I turned up the heat to a constant 88 degrees and humidity I am not sure but there is condensation on the inside walls of the container. She took a LARGE thawed rat yesterday with veracity.

I have a couple questions...
1. Can you heal balls with RI in this manner or do you have to give them anti-biotic? (I used to keep
Burmese Pythons and this had worked on Burms with mild RI)
2. Since she is SOOOO skinny should I feed her smaller prey items? (I believe her to be skinner then this picture represents. I can feel her ribs.)

The main reason I would go with the smaller feeder is the RI more then her current thin condition.. The digestion could take away needed energy to fight the infection thus dragging out the healing process.. I personally would take her to a vet and get her treated for the RI not risking the chances of making it worse over an extended period of time.

Good luck with her, she is a nice looking animal.
