new iguana....

ReptileGurl08 Mar 06, 2004 09:33 PM

Hey,I have a spiny tailed iguana and he is mean!I was thinking of trading him in for another green iguana?I have a male green iguana and could Kiwi get along with a female iguana? He is NOT agressive at all when he was younger he had a baby chinese water dragon living with him...So do you think Kiwi could like a female?I dont want him to get his feelings hurt.I know when I had a anole lizard he got real mad at me and jealous lol.
So someone please reply

Please think twice about two iguanas. They are bunches of work. I have two because I adopted one then couldnt turn the other one away because he was badly hurt by a 7 year old child. BOTH are males and Both have had good seasons so far. Nothing in their temperment has changed during breeding season. (good thing...) Execpt colors and a mild attitude But the Spiny might need a little more love. I would advise against traiding the spiny for another green ig. Kiwi might not like it too much.

If you have enough time, patience and bandaids you can tame almost any reptile...(except I've given up on the nile monitors.) but a spiny tailed should not be overly difficult...I guess I don't know your situation but trading in one animal for another seems rather irresponsible.

I would also think about your decision before you make it. Two iguanas require double the space, double the time, double the food, and double the electricity, poop cleanups and double anything else iguanas do. It will be a lot of work and a lot of time. you might regret it in the long run. But it's up to you...I wouldn't "trade in" the spiny tailed...I'd try to find him a good home first...weight out your options...

I think you should be able to tame the spiny the same way you would tame kiwi. With time love and patience. Good Luck
