hey built4spd13...I would like some advice

rayner1 Jun 10, 2003 09:01 PM

I am looking at pair of baby savs and i saw that you have a pair to. I want to gain as much information on them as possible before i make a final decision. I just had a couple of questions....
What temp is your basking spot in?
What is your feeding regimen?
What do you consider a varied diet?
How big is your enclosure?
How long until they are fully grown and ready to breed?(i wanna try to get C.B. out there asap-too many imports)
I can't think of anymore right now but i will definitley have more later. Thanks ahead of time

I have in total three Savs. My smallest is in a 30 gallon, the middle child is in a 65gal breeder, and my large male is in a 7'x3.5'x3'.
They are all averaging temps of 120 basking 92 ambient and 85 cool.
They are on a varied diets. They get crickets, mice, rats, chicken gizzards & hearts, peeps, roaches, and fresh shrimp as a treat every once in a while. All food treated with vitamin powder.
They get sprayed (misted) everyday. And soaked every other day. They really like that.
My Savs are not housed together due to their differance in sizes. My big male (Gator) is 37", my medium female (Peaches) is 24", and my baby (Breep) is 10.5". I'm hoping Breep is a male but it looks as though it's going to be female.
Hope all this helps if you have anymore questions let me know.

Golum was taken by my exboyfriend. He became so attatched to her that when we split up he took her and kept her. A small custody battle happened and I lost the fight. But I get emails with pictures about once a month letting me know how she is doing. From what I can see she is doing very well.

The only one who breeds bosc monitors is Ravi, so contact him on his CBB not these imports that everyone else sells as CB. The species has only been bred world wide in captivity maybe 11 times. In this country you can count the instances on one hand.
