feeding timors

rcs560 Mar 07, 2004 08:04 AM

I am still planning on getting a timor somewhere down the road. My question is, How often do you have to feed these guys? What should I feed them? And how expensive does it get? Thanks a lot RYan

My adult probably could eat a largish fuzzy or two pinkies a day. I don't feed him quite that much, probably, and I usually end up feeding him several fuzzies every few days. If he's not hungry, he'll just leave the food, though. F/t fuzzies are much cheaper than bugs for me (mine doesn't eat bugs, but that's probably a quirk on his part). If you get a cheap supplier a fuzzy diet would cost a couple of bucks a week, tops. Breeding your own roaches would also be a good inexpensive way to get the guy fed. You could also supplement the diet with ground turkey, although I don't think it's as good for them and I wouldn't feed ground turkey alone.

I've had my Timor pair for 1 1/2 years now, and I feed mine every other to every third day. I alternate between Zupreem canned monitor diet, f/t pinky mice, and gut loaded crickets. Once every other week I scramble up an egg (no butter or oil) and add it to the canned food, they go ballistic for it.
