male too aggressive?

quanno Jun 10, 2003 09:06 PM

i put my 2 year old male in with my 2 19 month old females today. i've been watching them for about 3 hours straight, while filming :-P. hopefully i can post video soon. But hes been bobbing his head over and over.. then the females started waving for the first time in about 14 months. slowly bobbing their heads as well. he kept bobbing his head really fast, lifting his front legs off the ground and stomping. One of the females was in the corner, he turned and charged her, she spun around and he jumped on top of her, bit the spikes on her top 'crown' as i call it, and rode on her back as she ran. it freaked me out so i stood up... he jumped up and blocked me from her with his beard out and mouth open. ok.. now hes on top of her with his arms wrapped around her neck... uh oh.. this could be trouble!

If not your going to end up with some pregnant females if you don't seperate them.

First the male will ruff them up a little to show them who is boss. My male did that for a long time without really doing anything,, so I thought. He had snuck one in there when I wasn't watching. Do keep an eye on them for a while to make sure he doesn't get carried away.
Like matt was saying,, if you don't want them gravid, you had better take him out.

Later.
