HELP....FAST....INJURED DRAGON

chopper110 Mar 07, 2004 09:17 AM

Hello,
I was handeling my 2 yr old male dragon this morning, when I think he dislocated his right leg at the shoulder. I was in the process of cleaning his enclouser, and I was moving him to a temp holding tank. My grip on him was just firm enough to stop him from jumping out of my hand, but it definately was not "too" tight. As dragons can do, he made a quick move as if he was going to jump, and that's when I heard a distinctive "pop". I immediately felt the strength in his rigt leg give way. I have been observing him ever since it happened at 10:00 am this morning, and he is deffinately having problems supporting his weight on that leg. I can tell by comparing the two shoulders, that the problems lie in his right shoulder. He is eating and drinking as normal, but he can't support his weight on that one leg.
Has anyone ever had this happen? Does anyone know if a vet can reset the leg on a dragon? Please, any info would be deeply appreciated. This is a really cool dragon, and his is kind of a best friend.......Please help.

Thank you,
Robert E. Langley Sr

I would take it to the vet ASAP! IM sure this can be fixed but you dont know for sure what happened. SO I would make the call now.

An emergency vet can take xrays and see what's going on even if they aren't a herp vet....I would take him there to be safe....then at least you'll know if it's a break or dislocation.....maybe a strain or a sprain and not either.....
