sweet looking snake... i have one as well, but i think amazon basin is a bad name for them,... mine was caught in ecuador, and i think should be named so... the amazon bason is the majority of south america before it tapers off into the chile, argentina area... the amazon basin encompases venezuela, bolivia peru, ecuador, brazil, columbia, surinam, guyana, and french guyana....
no offense to you or anyone who uses the term, but wouldnt be as vauge as calling them south american boas? personally, i think that naming convention needs to be reconsidered by us hobbiests.
just my opinion... and great looking boa btw.

The Amazon basin does not include Surinam, Guyana or French Guiana. They are in the Orinoco basin. It includes only parts of the other countries you've mentioned -- in some cases only small parts.
It makes all the sense in the world to me to name animals after geological/ecological regions and none at all to name them after arbitrary political boundaries.
meant to toss this image in there..... the green outline is the amazon basin.

The green line is not the Amazon basin -- it's the rainforest. The basin is the solid green region.

Well, somewhere there is also an Amazon Delta, so the solid green line isn't accurate either.
Anyhow, here a pic of a wonderfull redtail form the Orinoco Basin....
