ecb Mar 07, 2004 04:08 PM

Even though her last fecal (2 months ago) came back clear
I gave her some Pedialyte Friday night, and put a worm in her mouth last night (she never did swallow it)
So its pedialyte and Turkey tonight
She is just looking very peeked

I will let you know how she is
I am gonna cal the vet if she does not perk up in the next couple days

She is not holding on to things with her hands or feet unless I place her hands or feet on it (then the natural contraction has her hold on)
after the food she looks better, I will feed her again tonight

Hope she perks up to her old active running around self soon

I'm sorry to hear she isn't well. You are doing just what I would under the circumstances. IF you do wind up taking her to the vet see about having him check for bacteria. Maybe a culture on the saliva and/or feces.

Another thought is to give her a little warmer temps to see if that perks her up. Perhaps push it up to 84°F to see if that helps. Also palpate and see if you can feel any lumps that you don't think are eggs. If so a warm soak would be in order to get things moving.

I'm pulling for her and hoping she's just off feed or something.

I already have the room at mid 70s, and Lights to heat the tank
I M never gonna be able to heat the enclosure when it gets taller

Maybe you are right, she keeps herself kind close to the light

With al the soil and water, would UTHs be ok now, or still dangerous?

The babies are keeping to the side with the Redlight and water

I have a drip dish for erowen on the other side of the tank, although she does go to the water once in a while (but its been a while) I put her in the water after I fed her the babyfood. And I put her in there every other time I bring her out of the tank, to remind her where it is (although she can hear it)

She looked better this morning, did I tell you?

I know that when Luke escaped I found him laying on the portion of the heating pad that stuck out from the edge of my baby snakes tank. I thought it was a bit odd but then we aren't certain that these guys don't need some heat for digestion. I'm not sure about the uth but I have placed them on the sides of enclosures before and the babies seem to keep to the branches closest to the uth.

Yeah, I did catch that in your second post but I am always concerned when one of our little ones is under the weather!

Good luck!

I filled her tummy up good with 1/2 tsp Turkey and a Drop of Calcium with D and Reptivite, and 1 tsp Pedialyte
Drew up 3 ccs and fed her it
gave her 1cc Pedialyte the nextr morning
and 2ccs of Meat mash that night as well
Next morning, and this morning she ate a Big old hunken Nightcrawler

and she is cruising the cage again

Whew, Mom can relax again
I worry so much about her

Hey Elizabeth,

I certainly hope that Erowen improves. Is she due to clutch again?
My older female Zoe clutched, and I was convinced that I was going to lose her. She laid 11 eggs (entire clutch was infertile), but struggled with dropping 4 more eggs over the course of 3 days after the main clutch. She prolapsed, and was unable to pass the last egg. It was sideways. She tore the hell out of the tissue surrounding her vent. She looked bad. But somehow, between soaks and massages, she pulled it off. She's back to eating on her own, and once again is her old, inactive self. So, despite how delicate these animals often seem, I am also amazed at how tough they can be. Hopefully your girl is a fighter as well, and is just relaxing prior to the start of mating season . Sincerely hope she improves.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear Zoe went through so much. It isn't uncommon for infertile clutch to be laid over a period of time. It almost seems like they don't care about laying them and they just drop the eggs where-ever. I guess that fertile or not there is always some risk in the egg laying process just as there is with the birth of any baby.

I'm glad she is better and am also glad I haven't had one put me through that. I did lose one girl to being egg-bound and that was heart breaking enough for me.

On a good note, Lil' Darla just presented me with another clutch of 10 on the 3/5 and Cedar laid 13 yesterday. All candled pink.

for another pack of slugs
She has been digging a little, but It looked more like she was digging for worms
and she never gets Lumpy like some of the other dragons I have seen on here

Thanks for the reminder
its good to have another Dragon person whose animal is on the same schedule os mine (since I M the most UNORGANIZED person you will ever meet)

I am gonna get a big enclosure next Reptile show I go to, I SWEAR
They need a better home, I even know how I M gonna set up drainage so its cleaner, and not loosing worms into the Drain water

You know, I didn't even think of the egg thing either. Lil' Darla and Cedar neither one looked lumpy this time or fat. Not until they were laying half out of the hole they were digging, not together of course! LOL! Whats funny is that Cedar really took me by surprise and it has been 6 months since her last clutch. She didn't look gravid and didn't stop eating and she laid 13 eggs. He last clutch was only 12.

Lil' Darla took a nightcrawler the morning before she laid and that was after 2 days of digging. So, all the signs aren't always there and they aren't always obvious if they are.

Hope all goes well!

but the only hole Erowen has been hanging half out of lately is the food dish, she sits in it with her upper torso out of it
and last night and the night before (after I had fed her SO MUCH) she slept in her right angle pose On the level part of the branch, but her body against the Glass so she is bent at the belly at a Right angle (spine in, belly out)

I M not describing it very well
but it might be time again

Only the SHADOW knows
