When I first got Joe, he continually banged into the walls causing more and more damage to his nose. Eventually the damaged tissue just fell off, never to return, so he has a hole in his face. It doesn't interfere with his eating and doesn't appear to bother him. The vet says the edges look healthy, but the exposed area is the bone of his skull. And he will always be disfigured.

that happened from nose rubbing? or just banging into the walls?

Joe's initial damage came from banging the walls - they were originally just little splits in the upper lip. The nose rubbing wouldn't let it heal.
He also developed a slight infection in there that had to be treated twice with antibiotics. The second one - Baytril given orally - worked really well, though he hates my guts now. It doesn't taste very good, I don't think.
