What a nice looking tegu. I like his markings.
thanks, i should have posted the pics of him after eating. he had a lot of brown when i first purchased him from bert.

How big was he when you got him? Had he awakened from hibernation before you got him, or did the trip to his new home wake him up? In case you can't tell, mine are still asleep. Got them Feb. 15. The male stayed awake on the trip home, but the female buried herself right away, and only popped her head up once on the trip home, as if to say, "Are we there yet?" and went back to sleep. They both explored the cage for a few minutes and then burrowed under and went back to sleep. No sign of them since.

i still have a pic in the photo gallery of him when i first got him in late nov. and he was pretty small (i never measured him). he was pretty lazy when i first had him (some times sleeping for 2 days), but he started gettin more active as time went by. i just tried to get the right temps in his cage. i should have let him sleep but i woke him up a few times at first to let him explore and put him on a heat pad next to my comp. but hes like dog tame now. when i open his cage, hes laying down sunning and then he just gets up and walks to my feet waiting to get picked up. hes become a lot fatter ever since ive been leaving food in his cage, he eats more than twice as much. i still start his day off feeding him outside the cage and then when i put him up i leave food in there. i dont know how you can stand waiting for them to wake up, lol. 2 days of mine sleepin drove me nuts. heres the pic of when i first got him in late nov. it really is crazy how smart he is. thanks, justin

Yeah, it's driving me nuts waiting. And I'm as worry wart anyway. Slept in the stall with my last baby horse for THREE DAYS!! I think I may dig them up tomorrow and make sure they're ok. Just can't wait to get acquainted and learn their personalities. My husband kids me that I started getting lizards because I can't keep the horses in the house!
