Yellow anaconda growth rates

Katt Feb 09, 2003 08:31 PM

I've recently purchased two year old female anaconda. She's extremely friendly, not a hiss, and yes I know, they can be ornery.

In any case, she's 3.5 feet, at least that's what I was told, but 3.5 feet @ two years old, seems well small. Is she a small 'conda? If I were to feed her lots, would she grow bigger?

She's so yellow and so adorable, with huge eyes! I'll try to post pics when I can.

Thanks.

Some of my males have grown slowly and stayed small. Are you sure you have a female? I feed all of mine sparingly, and some have got really large, others haven't. I've kept more than 20 Yellow Anacondas in the last few years, and none have been ornery. And yeah, they have big, orange eyes. Several of them have gone from yellow to green as they have aged.

Definintely female. I probed one scale! I even tried to "root" around past the scent gland, and I tried both sides. Also there isn't even a spur!
