well, first off i have to say nice set up. George definately has room! what are the demensions?

ok, as far as substrate goes, you have a choice of sand, seed as you said, you have reptile carpet or outdoor carpet as an option. newspaper, butcher paper.

just a thought.....if you wanna go with sand or the dirt mix you actually could. you would just put a piece of wood just inside your doors that was high enough to keep the substrate in.

thnx it was a paint to build lol, its about 6x2x2
paper wouldn't really work for it becuase of the concrete on the the floor and the rounded corners and i've

i was thinking about putting the extra wood in for the dirt but i built bowls for dry foods into the floor in the corners and those would get buried and i like being able to see through the big doors and the wood would block some of that, plus i want to exmerment with the dirt for a bit so i dont go fill up his big cage than find its not right for me and have to get it all out.

i think im leaning towards sand but i want to get as many opions as i can before i decide

i had it right but when i tried it.....it wasn't that good.

so i'm back to experimenting.

even an inch or two of soil would be better than none at all. substrate dams don't work very well, but even a little bit of soil would be better than none.

and certainly better than those other dry-as-a-bone options

what i did was use sand with a top layer of seeds, he seems to like it and its pretty easy to clean up plus he likes to eat the seedes as well, i have tried the "carpet" i wouldn't reconemd this, their poop tends to get stuck in it and its pretty hard to clean.

i was thinking about maybe just putting the soil packed into the caves so he could make a burrow but im not sure about how difficult it would be to keep it from drying out .
im not disregarding soil all together im just not sure if it will work for that cage
