. . . I don't know about the other kids - but I've been very busy with my family and contemplating my leo future. I have allergies that are directly related to my leopard gecko projects that are driving me insane. I have some big decisions to make with them. My rhacs and snakes don't bother me - but the leo food is really giving me serious asthma attacks.
Sort of sad - I have this awesome new tiger breeding project just starting - plus another 1.2 awesome tigers ready to breed this summer and "WHAMMO" - I'm gasping everytime I go in the herp room. Oh well - I'll figure something out . . .
BTW - I'm not a big breeder - just a big mouth - hehe.

Continuing to hype up your tigers are you? Cornering the market again?
Lol, good luck with that asthma thing man, you know where to send them if it gets too out of control.

. . . I'll probably have to sell the project even before I get to seriously work with it.
This really stinks - and here I was all set to corner the market again.
(BTW - I have still to hatch a stripe yet despite my massive marketing campaign - hehe)
At least the rhacs don't seem to be bothering me. That T-Rex diet is fabulous!!!

Yes, the anxiety is killing us all, so your marketing seems to be working, even though there has yet to be a stripe hatch. See, you are at it again Monty!
(Good luck with the Rhacs, I want to get a few (hundred, lmao) but I am in need of a loan. Monty? You in the loaning mood?

What are you feeding your leos that is causing your asthma attacks? Is it the bedding for the mealworms/crickets?
Have you tried wearing a mask when in the herp room?

Wow, Monte... that's awful! I like the mask idea, have you tried that yet? I sure hope you can find some way to relieve it!
I am terribly allergic to the calcium powder (I think), and sometimes I have to wear a mask during feeding times. I also break out in hives (I'm one of those red-headed skin wimps) when I let the gex crawl on my unprotected skin. I don't know if it's them, or their tiny little claws, but I go through a lot of Benadryl cream!

It is there tiny little toe nails. It will depend on which gecko that I hold, but when I hold some of my bigger geckos and let them crawl on my bar skin they will leave these red scratch marks. Kind of like little cuts.

Monte,
I have the same problem with the mealworms. I think it is the waste "sand" that bothers me. If I mess around to much, I have alot of trouble breathing when i go to sleep. I now have air filters running, and I were a painters mask when messing with the mealies. It seems to work ok for me, but your case sounds worse.
good luck

Are you referring to the fecal dust produced by the mealworms? I am insanely allergic to it myself. My solution may seem a bit out of the ordinary but it will work. Harbor freight sells a really good respirator for painting and other work that will help you tremendously Monte. I feel your pain!!! Talk to ya later. Oh and let me know how those tigers I used to have are doing.
Hi
You said you have asthma due to the food your geckos eat. If you haven't already, can you have the room vented or have a sealing fan put in there like in a bathroom that will suck the air up into it with the flick of a switch. You could flick the switch like an hour before you go in or something.

My first reply was for Powergeckos.

Hmm...are you allergic to all feeder insects, or only some of them? You could try silk worms...they ought to be a lot less allergenic than most of the others. A bit pricey, but a good value, as I understand it.
as i understand it everyone is at another site... something about "THE MAN" versus the little guy

R2 Reptiles
You mean like Ron Tremper, Pro Exotics, Gourmet Rodent, those are big breeders and you may never see them on this site.
If you mean the some of thw people who sponsor this forum, I can't speak for Marcia or Keli or any of the others, but I think we all peek in occasionally while we can.
Off season is a nice chance to kick it. Very soon we'll be back to full swing with hatchlings, feeding and doing "egg watch" twice a day, cleaning cages, breeding crickets, processing orders, doing shows, etc. You get the picture. I don't have anything hatching yet. I think Kelli does so she's probably already off and running, and I think Marcia mentioned something about being off line for a while.

I certainly don't consider myself a 'big breeder'... and like Rick said, I am relaxing a little before the big wave of new hatchlings hits, too! LOL! Actually, I am here a couple of times a day, but will be less and less as business gets busier. I read a large majority of the posts, and will respond when I think I might have something valuable to contribute.
Rob Jenkins is away right now working hard for our great country.

Hi
It gives everyone on this forum comfort to now that you are here to help us.
If you ever left us, I'am afraid we would have to track you down!! (grin).
Take Care, TLB
Hi
Do you think that Rob Jenkins would like to get some mail from some of the people on this forum while he is serving abroad?, if so where would we send the mail to.
Also I think that if the idea sounds good that one person should send him a letter first and ask him if it would be alright with him.
Take Care, TLB
p.s. - maybe you could put a fresh post on this at the top of page.
