One of my rats had her first litter today and what a surprise. She had 17 pups and sixteen are alive. This is by far the largest litter I have ever got from a first time mom. She was bred to one of her brothers mainly for color. Their mother is one of my best producers. Her litters are always between 14-16 pups. This has got me thinking that maybe there is something to selective breeding for large litters. Needless to say i will be holding back some of her offspring. just thought I'd share. Clay
