The weirdest thing just happened...

ghettozoohouse Mar 07, 2004 11:47 PM

To start I just have to say that my holdback 2003 male hognose eats like you would not belive. I have never seen a hoggie come so fast and beg for food when you get near the cage. He chases down pinkies and thrashes them violently. It is unreal.
That being said...
I was cleaning my hognose rack and so I put this little guy in a delicup lined with a piece of paper towel. The hoggie had his head in the paper towel and he looked like he was trying to burrow in in. Upon further investigation I realized that he was eating the paper towel. What a freak! He was trying to swallow the paper towel because it was white like a fuzzy. It had no scent on it and it wasn't moving.
Maybe I should cool my temps down because he's going coo coo for food.
Maybe it is because we've had a record 87 degree temp. there today.

Pretty strange, I hope he didn't eat to much of it, paper towels are not septic tank compatible!

It's not the strangest things snakes have eaten. You would think their specialized olfactory would never fail, but check the link below for more mistaken identities.

But I had just fed the hog and it then started to eat a paper towel. I had to pull almost the whole paper towel out of her.
