I have recently been given a Rough Green snake. (rescued) Its about 18inches to 2ft long. Could I ask for some assitance. I have read several articles on the internet and they give very conflicting information, from being realy easy to keep to being almost impossible. Please could some of you who know about these things give me some advice.
I have read that it doesn't need suplementary ultra violet, and also that it does. Mine is housed in an area where it recieves a lot of natural sunlight, will it require it.
I've read that its life span is from 3-5 years and also to 10 and to 15 plus, what can I expect?
I've also read that it requires differing amounts of humidity, at the moment the ambient humidity is at about 45-50% and I mist it every couple of days.
I have also read that it only drinks water from droplets rather than from a dish, is this correct?
At the moment it is in a well planted 2ft by 1ft by 18" viv is this too big will it require a small enclouser to make it feel more secure or is this alright?
Reference feeding, how do I know how little or otherwise it eats? Should I place the food in a container that it can't jump out of?
Also it has a possible problem. Although the snake is in the main a good colour and seems fine there are small white splodges along its flanks, do you have any idea what these may be and what has caused them?
Any help, suggested reading or internet sights would be welcomed.
Thanks Dave UK
