How to use nolvasan as disinfecant??

SittonJ Mar 08, 2004 04:48 PM

I am concerned that I may not be using Nolvasan correctly to disinfect my snake cage. Currently, I spray the tank with the diluted solution and let it sit for 10 minutes. I then wipe it down with paper towels and put fresh bedding in. Do I need to rinse the tank with water after the Nolvasan??? Am I causing potential skin problems?

i've never heard of that stuff, but you should probably rinse it after the use just in case

I am assuming that you are speaking of disinfecting a reptiles enclosure, and not an amphibians. For large enclosures that cannot be taken to the sink and rinsed out thoroughly, I cannot think of any other practical way of cleaning them. I also have a few enclosures like this and which we spray it down, scrub and let it sit, then we wipe dry with a towel. I have not had any skin problems with any of the animals I have kept in these enclosures. But if you start to see problems then you should change your cleaning practices to rule out irritations from Nolvasan.
