misting

for those of you who mist your dragons outside of their enclosures, how do you go about it? How long do you spray them? Do you wait until they drink some water?

Just get him wet. Personally, as far as drinking goes, I use a dropper and drop some water on his snout. If he starts drinking I keep dropping. If he stops drinking I stop dropping. I do this about every 3 days. I think it's easy and a good way to bond with your beardie. I also think if you ever have to give meds this method will make it much easier.

sometimes i mist. when i do, it is inside the cage. i just spray them on the head for a while...if they start drinking then i keep spraying until they stop. if the don't start then i stop spraying.

rob's idea is a good one about the eye dropper. i hadn't thought of that. that would probably be best to keep the substrate clean and dry, too. i use alfalfa pellets, and they tend to swell up when wet and they start to make the house smell like a barn!

mostly though i just make sure their greens are fresh and moist and i give them a good soaking bath once or twice a week. they splash around an lap up the water and also absorb it into their skin. i like to bathe them also to get them to poop before i set them on the windowsill in the sun so they don't decide to use the windowsill as a toilet.
