I have a white spot gecko. We recieved him over christmas because the owners did not want him and they treated him badly. He is an extremely shy little lizard, i assume its due to the way he was treated, although i have read that they are a shy species anyway. He hides until we leave the room then he comes out. They seem to be extremely active during the day and they are especially beautiful. I find it quite frustrating that i cannot see him though as he seems to get frightened by our presence in the room, even though he has calmed down slightly.

regards
Julie

I have a pairing of White-Spotted geckos that are getting VERY large. They have succesfully bred and now I have 3 little ones. They are nocturnal, but can be very active during the day since they love to bask in the sun. This behavior does not make them diurnal though; however, you will not see diurnal animals very active at night - they would be dinner for some. They are very, very secretive - even when young. It's their nature. I've had mine for over 3 years and now the female will wait a few seconds before running away from movement. The male freezes when caught off guard and starts to breath heavily - obviously scared &^!$less - before getting the nerve to jump for cover. The babies are spastic and will try to jump right through the glass. They hate to be held - but their bite can be compared to being biten by someone with no teeth. They have become very vocal over the past year with lots of tail wagging, head bobbing, etc... Give them what they want - rocks to climb, jump to, and hide behind. For the adults I have a LARGE piece of slate that extends to the top of my 30-gal. tall tank. The slate is skewed a bit so they can also hide behind it. They love it! I have s little computer camera attached to my tele pointed to the cage in case I want to observe them for any extended period of time. Take pride in their comfort and enjoy.
