Rat Production

I checked my rat production spread sheet today to see what my numbers look like. I found my average litter is 14 pups. Is this a normal average for rats?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I find mine produce a lot more in the spring and fall. Probably too warm or cold in my garage for maximum production in the winter and summer.

I just cleaned some cages a few minutes ago and found one of my largest litters ever. 25 babies--(23 live and 2 still born) I usually get around 18 per litter in peak seasons.

I only breed blues now. One popped up a while back, I kept it, kept some of its offspring (for future breeders) to sell to a local shops, and now I have blues everywhere! Wish my albino ball pythons would breed like that.
