IRBA San Diego show in July

Sohni Mar 08, 2004 07:28 PM

Can anyone tell me how big this show is? The IRBA shows up here are pretty small, and I'm thinking about going to the one down south this summer. I'm especially interested in hearing about tortoise selection.

Its a large and diverse show that should have a decent number of tortise people there there are alot of breeders in that area. Plus alot of great snakes and beardies.

The March and October shows are the ones that are heavily attended in San Diego.
If you are going to travel to a show I'd suggest the Daytona or Tampa shows as a destination. Both of them are sights to behold.
Then, if you really want to travel there is a one day show in Hamm, Germany that is mind boggling. I've yet to attend that one but I have friends that go every year and the stories that come back are unreal.

I was asking about the San Diego show because I'll be down that way to visit my sister in San Clemente. The shows in March and October are problematic because they're during the school year, and it's not really a quick weekend trip--although since I'll be homeschooling my older son next year, maybe we can do a field trip, lol. I don't dare go to a show without the kids.

Let me ask another question, then: how many dealers could I expect to see in July? The San Mateo show has maybe 15, tops, and hardly any tortoises. More than that would be worth spending an extra day in SD. I'm not having much luck finding Hermann's up here.
