helpin' my dragon

louis6 Mar 08, 2004 07:48 PM

earlier, I posted on how I bealive Frank was sick and how he had lost weight. Well, I completely take back the "considerable weight" comment. He seems fatter than ever. But he is still constipated and sluggish.

Well I am going to rearrange his cage so that basking and moving around isnt so ackward for such a large dragon. I have this platform with a log he can climb up onto to bask. I think he feels ackward and unsturdy. Im just going to make it more Frank friendly, hopfully he will enjoy that.

PLEASE GIVE ME HELP ON MAKING HIS CONSTIPATION GO AWAY! I keep posting and posting on this but ppl never give me an answer (ive been here for over a year, I realize how posts and specific points get looked over, but please just help me out now.)

I really want to get another fecal for him done. The closest place that does reptile fecals is an hour away. Not really a problem. But can someone please tell me how most vets do fecals? I dont want to call because Vets are ALWAYS evil to me. I guess they hear a 15 year old voice say reptile and they wanna hang up already. Just tell me how to get this appointment.

Thanks everyone.

To cure constipation give him a warm bath if that doesn't work maybe order some parazap because that has a natural mild laxative in it.

Are you thinking about doing one yourself? If that's it I can't help you there but I can give you some advice on the constapation situation.

Give him a warm bath as suggested above and while he's in the water gently rub his tummy. This might help things move along. How long has he been constipated?

Also, I've been a regular here for about 8 mos. and don't recall you ever asking about constipation. Of course I may have missed your posts but wanted to point that out. Be aggressive if you don't get any answers . Another thing, if you've been asking about this issue for so long there is some other problem you need to fix. Your beardie should not be continuously constipated for a year!! Maybe I misunderstood.

What is you setup?

What are your temps?
What kind of lights do you use?
What kinds of supplementation and how often?

I hope you get the help you are looking for.

If you're having problems getting a vet appointment because of your age, let your parents make the call and get the appointment!

In the meantime, follow leofreak's advice.

Also, it would help to know how you keep your dragon, and what you feed him, as this may, or may not, have something to do with the constipation. Does he have enough room in his enclosure to get some excercise? What are the temps? Last but not least, how long has he been like this???

no, totally off wideglide. I posted on this probably 4 times (this being my fourth), but dont worry, I dont really mind that no one answers immediatly because I understand what ppl look for. Posts made by extreme regulars and those posts with a thousand astrixes but they get on my nerves so I dont do that.

and also my dragon hasnt been constipated for a year! I mean comn, im still human. This is probably a month and a half, but he has had 2 small ones in that period.

ive also said in my previous posts that I have been giving him warm baths but it doesnt help. He ate ALOT of greens yesterday (well compared to what he's been eating). And I sprinkled parazap on them today and put it in his water that I mist his greens with.

Im going to go buy some crickets tomorrow after school and dust them with parazap.

I forgot how large his cage is. Im going to take some things out of his cage to make it easier to move around and exersize. But the demensions of the cage are 1'x4'x3'. I just realized that this is too small.... So i will just build something so that there is more floorspace!

thanks for the tip on the parazap.

"I understand what ppl look for. Posts made by extreme regulars and those posts with a thousand astrixes but they get on my nerves so I dont do that."

I'm sure no one minds the asterisks and if they do you have to look at it this way. It is your buddy with problems and no matter what you think people on here might think about a thousand asterisks, you've got to do what you've got to do for your little guy. Who cares about what some think when it comes to that. And even if some would care, there's some that are more than willing to lend a hand and understand you're just trying to make your beardie better. Just something to think about.

"and also my dragon hasnt been constipated for a year! I mean comn, im still human."

Hey, you'd be surprised how many inhumane things I've read on these forums, so it's a good idea to assume the worst and work from there. Just to let you know.

"But the demensions of the cage are 1'x4'x3'."

Is that 1' wide x 4' long x 3' tall?
