Is 82-85 degrees a too hot daytime temperature for a veiled?

Yeah it is. 70-75 is ideal. 80 is pushing it, just make sure the basking spot isn't as hot if the air temp is higher.

I'm confused. Is this an adult veiled? If an adult, the basking spot should be about 90 with a gradient down to the 60s or lo 70s in the rest of the cage and a night time drop into the 60s is preferred.

But if this is a baby veiled, then I agree that the basking spot should be around 80....... 85 at the very max and that assumes there are cooler parts of the cage. One reason why glass aquaria are so bad is that they don't permit the necessary temp gradient.

as long as there is a place for the cam to cool down (70's), and a place to bask, this is good.

Hey ed did you say a gradient of 60-70 abmient air temp during the day? The temp in my cham's enclosure is usually the high 60's, and people keep telling me it's too low...is it?

What species?

It is too low. Especially for Veileds and Panthers.
