Heating recomendations

Hi I need a new heat source .I had a under tank that stuck to the glass It malfunctioned and my snake recieved 2nd and some 3rd degree burns even through the carpet i need a SAFER heater. My snake is in a 20 gal long with carpet on his floor ( news paper till he heals vets orders) thanks for any help

A good practice with all heat sorces is to use a thermostat. If I were you I would go get me one and buy a good heating pad. Place the prob of the thermostat directly on the heat sorse and set it at the temp that you want.

UTH provide great belly heat - but you must use a thermostat to keep temps in range. You might try a human heating pad - they don't get as hot.

hello and sorry to hear about your ball. I agree with the later. UTHP are the best way to heat a ball python. I would suggest buying the ZooMed brand and size that is appropriate for your tank. Also i would get a good thermometer. Not the kind you put on the outside of a fish tank that has different color key for certain temps. but a very good 5-10$ one that sits rite on the floor of the enclosure. I have all of mine in a 20 longs with zoo med heat pad and TWO layers of Zoo Med cage carpet. it keeps it at 90F which is perfect. if so you may need to get a reostat to controll the output of the pad. hope all goes well and let us know.
