Breeding leachianus???

herp-fever Mar 08, 2004 10:00 PM

Hello all,

I volunteer at my local zoo and we have a pair of leachianus that I believe are henkeli. I would like to breed this pair, and I am wondering if anyone has any tips that might help me.I am new at the zoo but the head curator knows I am interested in breeding and asked me to give these guys a shot. They are currently kept together year round. They are housed in a 2.5x2.5x2.5 enclosure with full spectrum lighting and are fed baby food and crickets. They almost always go to opposite side of the enclosure and seem to ignore eachother. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

PS I am not sure of their age but I would guess it to be 3-4 years

First you must make sure they are a compatable pair. If so, cool them in for a few months in the winter, say, mid 60s to low 70s. Increase misting as you "warm" them back up.

I've yet to breed leachianus, but have read quite a bit about it. hope this helps.

Brandon
