How do you check for mites?
Snake mites can be most easily found between the scales on the chin of the snake and around the eyes.
If you are using a substrate like white paper or news print, you may see snake mites, as well as small spots and streaks of blood on the paper.
Adults are black and roughly the size of the period at the end of this sentence.
Earlier stages of life are smaller and white to brown. Eggs are almost impossible to see with the naked eye, so even if you don't see any mites, eggs could still be present.
