How hot of a basking area for a Guyana?????????

Slimmerman Mar 09, 2004 09:00 AM

My snakes enclosure is @ the range of 80 to 86F, the basking area itself is @ 90 to 100F, depending on how high on the branch she is. Is this acceptable to let her choose the latter end of this scale? I'm sure in Guyana they oftem make there choices to sit in the hot sun every now and then. Your opinions & experiences are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I think that should be fine. The general recommendation for bcc/bci basking area is 90 - 95. If she wants to get warmer she will climb higher; should be interesting to see where she prefers.

My guyanas like the 78 to 80 degree range.I know this sounds low but mine prefer this. It's very rare for them to bask in the 90 degree range.Im sure i will get flamed for this but i havent had a single R.I. or regurge in 4 years....Paul.
