Help with Asian Turtles

mneumann Jun 11, 2003 12:49 AM

Chinese Yellow Pond turtles, Reeves Turtles I have both an in-door and out-door pond. What is too cold for Asian turtles? I have read and been told conflicting information that all turtles can Hibernate is this true?

Many of the Asians can hibernate but it depends on what part of Asia they're from. For example, a species from Southern Vietnam might not be able to hibernate. All of the species you mentioned will hibernate and will handle mild winters. They wouldn't be able to handle a Minnesota winter (where I live) but they'd have no problem dealing with a Missouri winter. I hope that helps. --Maxx

Thank you for the information, they should be able to handle a Southern California winter outside with out a problem.

Thanks for the information.
