of what? is it a neotenic something? or are we talking something else? sorry, maybe i should know.
it is an axolotl. the two lakes they are found in outside of mexico city have not allowed them to get out and metamorphasize like they should so they have become permanently like this and they breed like this as well.
interesting enough, in the 60's (or?) an axolotl was crossed with a leucistic tiger salamander to create leucisitic axolotls, they have been crossed back many, many times.

hey andrew, I've 3 of them, 1 male and 2 female, size range from 4-5.5inch... wat u feed urs? I've read and heard from many folks that its not advisible to put fishes in with them, but I'm feeding mine bloodworms, sinking pellets and feeder fishes like mollys n small goldfish... n they're really eating those feeder fishes... I guess its a good way to pump them up n make them fat LOL... anyway I've all 3 housed in a 2ft by 1.5 by 1.5ft tank with lotsa plants in them...
