am i worrying too much?

Chuck420 Mar 09, 2004 12:49 PM

hi i have had my bp for 3 weeks now, and every attempt at feeding, he shows no interest...i tried leaving it in his cage, feeding him in the cage, but he doesnt even flick his tongue out constantly when its in there, he doesnt even come out. but as soon as i take it out he comes out and explores. he doesnt seem to mind being handled, when i first got him, he was real jumpy but i think he gained trust quickly. his temps are 88-91 warm and 82 cool 50-60%humidity day and a bit higher at night. could it be that he is just not hungry at the time? or he wants rats? i dont think ill try to feed him this weekend and just leave him so i wont add any stress, if he is stressed how would i know? anyway to anyone who replys i appreciate it
Chuck

i usually leave all my new additions in their rack/cage for a month before i even attempt to feed, or handle them. For younger ones about two weeks.

he will eventually come around try offering him every fortnight not every week till he gets the idea

Put him in a brown bag with the food in the evening during his active time. Leave him alone for 30mins. That may do the trick.

Frustrating isn't it? Just keep weight measurements and monitor that. I'm sure he'll come around.

I had the same problem. Took my guy to the petstore and they feed him live and he ate no problem. I tried FT the following week with no success. He did start taking PK, but still not FT. Finally figured out my BP is a picky one. He likes his food at least 108 degrees (after thawing) before he'll even consider it. Just watch the weight and give him some time.
