Not interfearing?

Jason W Jun 11, 2003 01:37 AM

I was watching the croc hunter tonight. They did a rerun on sea turtles. Anyway they said on there it was agenst the law to help the babbys or any other animals along so in short if the babbys got ataced by a bird they had to jsut site and watch. Are there any laws like this in the U.S? More specificaly in California? If a cat is chasing a fence lizard can I get in trouble for chacing the cat away or should I jsut let nature take its course

The cat isn't really part of nature. It's getting fed by its owner and isn't native to this country. Cats can be very destructive to wildlife if left unchecked. But the birds eating the sea turtles probably really depend on them to feed their chicks and stuff, they've pretty much co-evolved together until humans messed it up.

Ic So it would be ok to get between a lizard and demesticated animal? However if eating that lizards or snake is a life and death thing than its best to step aside huh?

Yup, interfere with the cat, but let that poor hardworking snake finish its meal! Same thing if you happen to see a lizard eating a snake, although that would be tough for me. Poor snakes! (ok, i really like snakes, i admit it)

I personaly would have a hard time standing by while any reptile was being made a meal for anything but I guess Nature dose have to take its course.

Some reptiles are there just to eat other reptiles, if it weren't for them, the world would be overrun with queen snakes and five lined skinks and the like.

That makes sence. I think it would be hard to watch an introduced animals eating a native one I dont think I would be able to do that but shoot if I came acrost a king snake eating a gopher snake then oh well I guess.

Take a pic and post it here, I'd like to see it .

I actualy had a cal king that got into it with a gopher snake of the same size. I seperated them before thye hurt eachother as they were in a huge knot constricting eachother but I have no doubt the king would have had a go at it had I not seperated them.
