Older Female Panthers.

It seems that female panthers will ovulate regardless. I've tried everything to slow it down including: feeding less and not letting them see any males. The younger females will lay clutches 6 weeks apart from one mating, which I feel is too much for them to handle.

My question is, will this slow down at any point in their lives? I have a very large female ambilobe that is a little over 2 years old now. I would really like to retire her and let her live out the rest of her life with no more stress.

Has anybody else had any success in retiring their females? If so, please let me know how you did it.

What other things have people tried to slow down ovulation.

Thanks

Vince

I've herd that if you lower their basking and normal temps and feed less this will slow down and sometimes hault the egg makin. supose to simulate inadiquite conditions for the offspring so their bodies will not produce the eggs.

I did this with my 8 month old female veiled to keep her from producing infertile eggs untill I was ready to breed her and she never did for 5 months so... it could have worked...or there could have been another reason why she did not make any eggs..I dont really know. never tried it with an old female.

I've already tried feeding less, but have not messed with the temps. I'm only concerned that my lowering the temps that I 'd be making her uncomfortable. I'll look into this more. Thanks for the info.
