tricolors......my new obsession

ss Mar 09, 2004 04:44 PM

I am officially fixated on tricolors. after seeing them at Black jungle yesterday i am getting some. Any kind words of advice about them from experienced tricolor parents would be appreciated. I have had great success with my others and I think I am ready to delve into the unknown again. What are the major diffierences between what I already have and the tricolors? Any specifics on eating behavior also? Pairs, trios, even numbers, odd numbers? This is the kind of info I would like. All the stuff I will not find in the care sheets.

Thanks,

Tricolors are a very hardy frog! They would be a good frog for anyone that isn't the most experienced with darts. Though they stay small 3/4"-1", they can eat surprisingly large food. When mature they have a nice call too. If you saw adult tricolors you are going to have to wait about 1-2 years to get the full lipstick red color out of them, but they are well worth the wait. They are sexually mature at 6-8 months. Oh, and they are okay to have in large groups. Large egg clutches, app 20 eggs or so, but are more seasonal breeders (only breed a few times a year and are cued by seasonal effects in the tank). I think that hits everything.
