Fake plants

brett Mar 09, 2004 05:23 PM

Just wondering what types of fake plants people are using in their cages/tanks where are you buying them? My question mostly relates to whether anyone has tried any of the cheap fake plants from a walmart, etc., or whether everyone buys the overpriced ones at pet stores. I tried the ones from walmart before and had a snake die...though it was never concluded that the two were related. As tempted as I am to try it again, just thought that I would inquire first. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I use silk plants from varied sources. I've purchased from pet stores (over priced and not worth it), Wal-Mart, and from craft stores.

When purchasing from Wal-Mart just be sure that the plants you choose are not covered in sparkles (glue adhesive), and that the colouring on the leaves doesn’t transfer too easily (heavy dyes). I am over cautious and wash everything new introduced into my enclosures with soap and a disinfectant. I'd look into other husbandry issues as result of your snakes death, mistakes do happen it's just better to learn from them than have them repeated.
