mealworm and feeding to a leopard gecko

when a meal worms turns into a beetle will a leopard gecko eat it????

I haven't been insane enough to try it but if you ask me I wouldn't. They really have no nutritional value, just look at its hard sheel and lack of meat. I would take those beetles put them in a grain substrate and feed them lots of apples and stuff and you should be expecting some little tiny mealworms
