Are parasite meds harmful to humans? I went to the vet and...

newkid Mar 09, 2004 05:58 PM

Im such a dork, they sent me home with a few CC's of a med called panacur or paracur. Its in a syringe and I shot some over my hand. It dries like paint basically. I washed it off but just curious.

Also the doc got her to open her mouth like no prob. She was locked up like Fort Knox for me. I managed to get a chance and got her to take the meds and a lil bit of peach baby food few min after. Any advise is appreciated on how to get her to open her mouth.

Thanks

Hi

My vet. taught me to take a business card and fold it in half and then get that into my geckos mouth, then lift up a little and put the syringe in and quickly pull the card out.

It seems always easy for the vets., doesn't it.

I don't think it can be that bad to people, they give the same medicine to dogs unless I'm terribly mistaken. Not that I'm advising you to chug it or anything.

but you would have to take a ton and most likely get the runs before anything LOL... small amounts shouldnt harm you unless youre allergic to it........... when i was in my young teens we used to worm our horses three- four times a year and one of those worming was "tube" worming.. you basically run an inch or so wide tube through the nose into the stomache....... then with this big i mean HUGE syring looking pump thing, suck the liquid wormer out of the bucket and shoot it in the tube, and the meds goes right into the stomache..... so once it gets down you put your mouth over the end of the tube and blow very gently to make sure all the worming medicine is out of the tube........ well let me just tell you while my mouth was on the tube blowing the last part out, the horse coughed.... wormer came up went in my mouth up my nose and in my stomache (horses cough hard).......... my mom called the vet to ask if it would hurt me. the vet said "no but she sure wont have any worms and may have the runs for a day or two"..........
