corns are good..balls suck.........I know......
(*80 corns and 24 balls here).......
trust me........
get a good corn......
i would say either one would be a good choice. only word of caustion is that balls can sometimes be picky eaters. part of the problem is buuying from a pet store where the animals are most likly wild caught or captive raised. if you decide on a ball python, buy from a known breeder. good idea to get a corn from a known breeder too.
Both are cool snakes and good starter snakes. Corns are almost "fool proof" (are you a fool?) and balls can stress their owners out with fussy feeding issues.
I have both and love both. Are you a kid? Go corn. You'll have much less chance of scrwewing up and killing it. If you do well with the corn for 6 months, get a Ball Python too.
Agreed. Start corn then go w/a ball.
Corns are awesome. They are active snakes and easy to feed.
Balls are awesome too. Just a little more lazy, slower, and more finicky.
They both will get around the same length.
Good luck.

Between the corn and ball, I say corn for first snake. However, there are a lot of other snakes out there that will make excellent, easy to keep captives. The corn will likely still make the overall better choice as they are so readily available and low priced. However, I think that the black milk snake is even more easily kept. I've had many corns in the past and I currently have two black milks. One couldn't ask for a snake to be less demanding in its husbandry requirements. Plus, they eventually become impressive 6 foot black snakes will a calm demeanor. This is one species that has not yet received the attention that it deserves.
Dont go by rumors that you hear about bad eating balls. I have a CB and it has NEVER turned down a meal. first what kind of snake are you looking for? I have both. they are completely different kinds of snakes. nothing about the two are the same except they eat rodents. If you like the "big bad python or boa" type snakes then i would say go with the ball or a MALE Common Colombian Boa Constrictor(B.C.I.) A male B.C.I. would be fairly close to a larger female ball in size if you feed it for it. A corn on the other hand is not that "big snake" type. they are smaller thinner snakes that tend to dash for the closest cover to them when younger. It all depends on what you are looking for in a snake. I know i wanted a big bad snake when i got my first corn and it turned out it wasnt enough. So now i have corns, balls, and boas. I love them all, but am hooked on the balls and boas.
