blotchy eggs

kg Mar 09, 2004 07:30 PM

i just checked on my bearded dragon eggs, and some from the first clutch (been incubating for 53 days now) have some dark blotches on them. What does this mean?? I'm really nervous.. these are my first bearded dragon eggs. I can take pictures of them later.. Help please..

Without seeing a pic I can't say 100% for sure, but sounds like they are getting ready to hatch. Expect them to start caving in next (it's a good sign, really). Let us know how it goes and charge up the camera battery for when they start. LOL

3 of my eggs have fuzzy mold on top. Should I toss these or keep em? I don't want the mold spreading to other eggs, but I don't know if they might still be good. And I can't seperate them since I don't have room in my incubator to do that.

Mold isn't a good sign, usually means they're dead or infertile. Are they still plump and white? What do they look like when you candle them? At 53 days it should be very obvious whether they are fertile or not. Don't write them off just because of the mold though, we just hatched out 2 last night that had started to mold (didn't like the look of them from the beginning and had pretty much written them off but incubated anyway, just goes to show ya what can happen).

Mmkay, just checked the eggs, and 3 of the eggs from the first clutch have mold on them, BUT they are still plump and white.. I candled them, and I see little moving body parts. One of the moldy eggs from the second clutch isn't looking very good though.. I'll just keep it for a little longer. Thanks for your advice!
