FEMALE WITH EGGS ???

turtlemix21 Mar 09, 2004 08:19 PM

Hi, Need help with leopard adn eggs?? My one female I just noticed the other day has eggs in her. I never expected the male and female to bred so fast, they have only been together a few months. I need to know if there is a way to tell when she is going to lay them?? I looked in a Leopard Gecko book and know they are eggs, according to the pics I saw. They are both clearly visible in her. Does this mean she can go anytime?? I have a container with a mixture for her to dig in and hopefully lay the eggs in. I need this information cause the incubator I ordered won't be here for a couple of more days?? All help is appreciated. Thanks Matt

HI

Sarah H. said that it take 3 to 4 weeks after breeding before she will lay.

Also, when it is getting close to the time, she can stop eating a week to two weeks before laying.

Guess i'm in for eggs soon then lol, Karma isn't eating, thats one of the new girls i just got. I wasn't going to get all uptight about eggs just yet cause i figured the stress of a move would be enough to make her not eat, but the others are eating....actually flame comes out of her hide to meet me at the dish LOL. Karma was in the laying box up until yesterday evening when she decided to move to her other hide.
Luckily i have things ready but working nights is a pain cause i'm not here until 8am. I did instruct my brother on the do's and don'ts of egg handling...hopefully if she lays in the next 2 days when i'm at work he'll keep on top of it.

Well, she will begin to be more active, dig in a couple different places, corners etc... and she will just mess up her cage a lot, she won't eat, you will know, and also when she is in the egg layin box, most likey you will se some of the substrate pushed out, but if she is in the process, don't disturb, don't flip, and mark them with a pen, and for the incubator, well, you well need something fast, well what you might want to do is, just take a heat pad, but it under a pretty thick towel, and wrap the towel around the box to keep the eggs in, and keep the box pretty highly filled with (dirt, vermiculite, perlite) etc.... that SHOULD work till the time comes when the incubator arrives, and let the incubatore run for some time ok. I hope I could help you if you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Thank you.

ps:keep the heat pad on low!!!
