Hey,

Just weighed my male GG and he has officaly passed the 100g mark. He is 13.5in and 104.3grams. He has been gaining about 4-5grams a day on average. How many grams should he weigh before he can breed. Also I have a 10.5in female that weighs 57.4grams, how long until I can breed her.

Females should be over 300 grams and 18 months old before being bred. But I'm sure someone is going to reply that they can be bred at a smaller size or that they should be bred at a larger size knowing this forum..

They can be bred at a smaller size and should be bred at a larger one. So there....LOL It has been kind of crazy around here lately hasn't it? Seriously though, I agree with kg, at least 300g and 18 months is a good guide to go by. By the way how are your eggs looking kg?

I agree that your dragon should be around the 300g mark before considering breeding her. I have found that age however does not matter. There are differing opinions on the subject and it is ultimately your choice to make.

I have a small group of dragons (11) but looking at my adults I would say 400 grams would be the minimum. I have a bunch of dragons in the 300 gram range that I would not consider full grown nor ready to breed. But then again, I may just have large dragons. I think the reason people have the 300 grams and 18 months rule is simply because you cannot tell how large a dragon will eventually get and the energy costs of breeding tend to (this is from reading, not experience) slow growth. If you have a huge female who will eventually be a 600 gram adult, she may reach 300 grams by 6 months; if you breed her then, you could seriously affect her final adult size. By waiting until 18 months you are pretty much assured she has done the vast majority of her growing before breeding.
